Invisalign Procedure
Berkshire Dental Clinic in Sandhurst, Berkshire one of the leading Sandhurst dentist offers an array of Invisalign invisible braces including Invisalign Go, Invisalign i7, Invisalign Lite, Invisalign Teen and Invisalign Full.
Invisalign® offers an almost invisible system that straightens teeth fast and contains no metal. Invisalign treatment consists of a series of custom made clear aligning trays. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, every two weeks, your teeth will move – little by little until they have straightened to the final position.
One of the primary concerns people often have about traditional dental braces is the look of the metalwork on their smile and its visibility. Especially for adults, the prospect of wearing metal braces can be very discouraging. Invisalign aligners are almost invisible.
Over 17 million people (as of February 2024 and counting!) have now transformed their lives with their removable, near-invisible Invisalign aligners. If you are looking for straighter teeth without the hassle of traditional metal braces enquire today!
Benefits of Invisalign
Clear - Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible so hardly anyone will notice you’re straightening your teeth.
Removable - Invisalign aligners can be removed to eat, drink, brush, floss and for special occasions.
Comfortable - Invisalign is comfortable as there are no metal brackets or wires to irritate your gum or the inside of your mouth.
See your treatment in advance - Invisalign allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan before you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
Is Invisalign right for you?
For many the answer is yes. Whether you just want to love your smile a little more, or you think you've got a particularly tough case, ask us what we can do for your smile with Invisalign.
Invisalign can deal with various situations such as:
Overbite: An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. Invisalign can help most overbite situations.
Underbite: An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. Invisalign clear aligners can fix underbite. Severe underbite might require Invisalign treatment combined with surgery.
Crossbite: When you close your mouth and some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth — rather than on the outside, like they normally would. Your dentist calls this a crossbite. Invisalign can fix some types of crossbite.
Openbite: If your upper and lower teeth don't touch when your mouth is closed Invisalign can fix this.
Gap teeth: When you have extra space between two or more of your teeth, your dentist calls this spacing issues or gap teeth. Invisalign can fix gaps in teeth
Overcrowding: When you don't have enough room in your jaw for all of your teeth they can bunch up, overlap and twist, sometimes getting pushed to the front or the back. Crowded teeth can make it hard to brush and floss well. It’s easier for plaque, tartar and bacteria to build up. Invisalign can fix overcrowding. Sometimes other dental work is required in combination with Invisalign.
Straighter smile: You like your smile — but you really want to love it. Maybe you have a special event coming up, or you want the confidence to take on the world at work or with friends. Small fixes can make a big difference, and with Invisalign treatment you can love your smile.
Types of Invisalign
Invisalign treatment is currently split into Invisalign Full, Invisalign Go, Invisalign i7, Invisalign Lite and Invisalign Teen .
As part of the Invisalign family, Invisalign Go, Invisalign Lite and Invisalign i7 use the virtually invisible, clear plastic aligners to move your teeth into position. The difference is that these types of Invisalign aligners are used for simple tooth corrections of limited number of teeth only.
Invisalign Full treatment is the most commonly prescribed treatment and is suitable for patients with moderate to difficult corrections and or those needing more than 14 aligners (more than 6 months of treatment). Furthermore, an unlimited number of aligners are included in this option making it good value and flexible in terms of treatment planning. The cost of Invisalign full is usually not significantly more than other options.
Invisalign Go treatment enables the correction mild-to-moderate misalignment and it facilitates treatment from second pre-molar to second pre-molar. The number of aligners supplied is limited.
Invisalign i7 is a newer development that shortens the time of treatment for patients with minimal orthodontic needs, such as one crooked tooth or a setback in orthodontic treatment. The number of aligners supplied is limited.
Invisalign Lite is best suited for mild to moderate cases that will benefit from treatment perhaps combined with other dental treatment. Limited numbers of aligners are provided with this option.
Invisalign Teen is a great option for young adults because of the constant shifting of their teeth as they grow and develop. This treatment includes six complimentary replacements aligners in case aligners are lost or treatment plans change. This type of Invisalign also includes tooth eruption tabs which allow second molars to grown allowing flexibility and complete control by the dentist over treatment planning.
The Invisalign process
We offer a free Invisalign consultation. Once we have confirmed you’re eligible for treatment, we will take photos, X-rays and digital scan, or a dental impression, of your teeth. These records will be used to create a ClinCheck® 3D treatment plan, just for you.
The virtual 3D treatment plan (ClinCheck© treatment plan) shows on a screen the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. Once you approve the ClinCheck treatment plan, your custom-made, clear aligners are prepared. After being custom-made and shipped to us, you’ll receive a series of aligners to wear every day and change at home – on average every 1-2 weeks. You wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day and you’ll visit us around every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress, make adjustments and receive new aligners. After finishing your treatment plan, retainers will be required to maintain your new smile.

1. We offer a 5 years guarantee on Invisalign full and Invisalign Teen treatment so that you know that should your teeth move again after treatment then you do not have to pay the full amount again to fix the relapse.
2. The guarantee runs for a period of 5 years from the day that you start your treatment. So, if your treatment takes a year then the guarantee will run for a further 4 years
3. If during that period, your teeth were to move out of place, you can come back to us, pay a fee of £500 per treatment (instead of the whole cost again), and we will do a new mini Invisalign relapsed treatment and get your teeth straight again. You will need to pay for any new retainers if your existing retainers do not fit your newly re-straightened teeth
4. To qualify for this 5 Years guarantee, you will need to come back and see us for a combined check up, retainer check, and hygiene visit at least once a year and bring your retainers with you so that we can check to make sure that everything is fine, retainers fit and are being worn as prescribed.
Reviews:
A great many of our patients including Invisalign patients come to us following a recommendation from an existing patient. If you don't know any of our patients you may be interested to hear what our patients say about us. Here are some examples.
"Having worked in dentistry for over 10 years I had limited knowledge about Invisalign. I knew they were a well known company who have been working in this field for a long time but I had never really thought of it for me. Yes, I had noticed how crowded my teeth were at the front and was quite self-conscious about it but I just thought it was probably a very complicated and long treatment that I didn’t have time for. My colleague, Dr Sheel Patel mentioned in passing about looking into Invisalign and since then I have not looked back. Before any decisions were made I had a Clin Check which is like a virtual assessment of my mouth. It was amazing! It shows you how your teeth are at present and how they will look at the end. It breaks your treatment down week by week so if you follow all the advice you are given, you can see how you improve on a weekly basis. Seeing a 3D virtual model of my mouth and being able to see the lower jaw, upper jaw and both together inside and out really helped to show just what results I could achieve. Sheel was an amazing treatment provider whose attention to detail is undeniable. I now have a mouth to be proud of and its all thanks to Invisalign and Sheel. If you are even slightly interested in Invisalign I would highly recommend a consultation with Sheel. You don’t know what can be achieved unless you ask! It's not often you get the chance to have non-invasive cosmetic work that can actually be life changing."

FREQUENTLY ASKED INVISALIGN QUESTIONS
What are the advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces?
1. Invisalign is nearly invisible -- you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing.
2. Invisalign is removable – unlike metal fixed braces you can eat and drink what you want in treatment; eg popcorn and salads and you can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.
3. Invisalign is comfortable -- there are no metal brackets or wires to cause mouth irritation: no metal or wires also means you spend less time in the dentist’s chair getting adjustments.
Are they really invisible?
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. They’re made from lightweight, clear plastic. Even from close quarters, you’d have to tell someone you were wearing aligners before they notice them. Come and take a look we have some on display that we can show you.
What is Invisalign Aligners made of?
The virtually invisible aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material. The aligners are custom-made for you and fit snugly over your teeth.
Is Invisalign just for adults?
You don’t need to be an adult to have aligners fitted, but you do need to have all your adult teeth.
Does it hurt?
Like any braces, Invisalign aligners exert a slight pressure when they’re first fitted. They don’t irritate or cause any pain beyond this.
Will Invisalign affect my speech?
The vast majority of patients report no effect on speech. However, as with traditional orthodontic appliances, there is an initial adjustment period associated with having something new in the mouth.
I had braces when I was younger, but my teeth have shifted. Will Invisalign help correct this?
Yes - Invisalign can usually correct the shifting that occurs after braces – often referred to as a relapse.
How long will treatment take?
The length of treatment depends how complex your case is and how often you wear your aligners. We will advise you exactly how long your treatment will take based on your specific needs. On average, Invisalign treatment time is 12 to 18 months though you can start seeing results in a matter of weeks. Some cases are much shorter.
My dentist mentioned "attachments." What are they and why would I need them for my Invisalign treatment?
Your Invisalign treatment may require SmartForce® attachments, small tooth-coloured shapes that are attached to your teeth.
These shapes, give the aligners something to gently push on in order to move your teeth with the right amount of force, and are what make complex tooth movements possible without braces. Invisalign clear aligners fit smoothly and tightly around them, so they’re barely noticeable. While not everyone who uses Invisalign clear aligners will need SmartForce attachments, if you need them, your dentist will attach them to your teeth at the start of or during your treatment and remove them when they are no longer needed.
What is Interproximal Reduction?
In modern day dentistry we try to avoid removing healthy teeth to create space for teeth to be realigned. Where possible, we use a technique called “Interproximal reduction” or “Interproximal stripping”. We use a special technique that carefully and accurately removes a fraction of a millimetre from your enamel. This procedure is safe in skilled and experienced hands. It allows us to make sufficient room to tuck your teeth in line and make them straighter. It is not harmful to the teeth in any way and the procedure itself is not in any way painful.
